Healthy Snacks To Eat At Night: A Game Changer for 2019

Hello and welcome to JADa Therapy

Thank you for your visit and today I am talking about the power of late night snacking and how to eat healthy snacks at night.

Now think of this situation.  You are currently staring at your computer screen and now that I have mentioned snacks you may be thinking oh I do feel a little peckish.

Dinner has already been eaten and they number one weight loss rule is no eating after 8pm.  But what do you do if you start to feel hungry?

Many would say drink water and yes this may work a good few times but is it really sustainable for many of us in the long term.  I think not.

Tell yourself to resist – like some form of affirmation.  I must resist, I must resist. I MUST RESIST.

But unfortunately the more you think about being hungry the more you will feel hungry and that is a fact.  In some cases it can even intensify.  Now that is not a good thing at all.

Hash Tag #i am hungry now.

Hungry

So how do many people do this?  How do they get over these feelings?

Well let me tell you a little secret….

I can personally say that I work late at night and many times I have found myself wondering around the kitchen not knowing how I got there. Lol. Looking for something to eat.

I often tell myself to get back to work and drink some water and get over it.

I can tell you that feeling hungry in a normal human instinct, so do not feel ashamed of it.

So how do your deal with wanting a snack late at night?

Well like I mentioned earlier some would say after your last meal you should drink water for the rest of the night.  I do think that this is a good idea but I also think that it is not sustainable in the long run for many people.

So this leaves me with snacking.  Why not? As long as you do not go a bag of chips, cookies, ice cream.

Instead go for nuts, seeds, and or blueberries, be inventive, be clever about it, and choose the right food in moderation.

But going back to the secret I mentioned earlier, well it is not really a secret, it is quite simple really.

Wait for it……

Cup of Red Tea

A cup of tea.

Yes you read it right a cup of tea.

But I am not talking about drinking a cup of tea right before you go to bed.  I am talking about drinking a cup of tea in-between the time of your last meal and you going to sleep.

The best tea to drink which is caffeine free and will not have you bouncing of the walls and unable to sleep.  This tea is Red Tea.  It will satisfy your hunger and leave you feeling calm and revitalized and this is because of its detoxifying properties.

You can read more about Red Tea here.

Red Tea is really good for late night cravings and weight loss and this is why it is included in the Red Tea Detox and you can find out more about it here.

The benefits are endless, and the solution is really simple and if you set yourself a challenge it will be easy to get there.

So now you can get rid of the chips, ice cream, cookies, chocolates and replace it with putting the kettle on and making yourself a cup of tea.

From experience this is a game changer and those late night cravings will so become a thing of the past.

  1. Hi there interesting article about night time snacking. I often look around for healthy snacks to eat at night. Maybe because I’m more relaxed but I tend to want to eat at night. I don’t think I’m hungry more like I just want a snack watching tv. Sometimes as you say, a handful of blueberries will do the trick. I tend not to drink too much though as it makes me wake during the night to go to the bathroom.

Thank you for your visit and comment, I really appreciate it.

Yes snacking at night is more out of habit for many people like myself.

Drinking the red tea a few hours before bedtime tends to take care of cravings, I have found.

      Many thanks

  2. I do love drinking tea, especially to unwind at night. I must admit, I was pretty excited to learn about some salty snacks that might be healthy, though! 🙂 I don’t know if I should give kale chips another try or what. I want to eat cleaner.

I have not really heard of red tea, but it sounds very beneficial! Is it easy to find? I’d love to give it a try.

  3. Hello Jennifer.

Thank you so much for this article.

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2015, I began a journey to change my nutritional habits. I’ve done pretty well with meals, but snacking has been a real problem for me. It’s easy to grab a bag of chips, even though I know it’s not good for me.

Your suggestion for the red tea will, hopefully, curb my cravings for salty or sweet snacks.

    Again, thank you,

    Karen

Yes cravings are no joke. lol

The Red tea helps a lot when I take it a couple of hours before bed or when I know I will be working really late.  It actually helps me to focus on what I am doing because I am not thinking of putting something in my mouth. lol

      Many thanks

  5. Thanks for sharing this! The midnight munchies are so real, I experience that all the time.

I don’t have any issues with my weight, but my immune system would thank me a ton if I was smarter about how I snacked. This tea sounds like an AWESOME option! I like tea, but I don’t choose it often enough. I actually tried a coffee recently that was a bit similar to this. It wasn’t a detox, but it was filled with nutrients that made it a meal replacement. It filled me up and made me not need more snacks.

Do you know if there are certain times of the day that are better for eating than others? I’ve heard this but haven’t researched it.

in answer to your question of when is the best time to of the day to eat?

I would say say that it depends, by this I mean how active are you and at what times of the day are you most active.

A simple rule of thumb is to eat all or most of your carbs earlier in the day.

      I hope this helps

      Many thanks

  6. Yeh, thanks for making me feel hungry, lol. I often find myself in front of the fridge looking for a snack at stupid hours of the night/morning and I always grab the moist filling food so I can just get back to sleep and not think about food.

I’m actually only 190lbs and 5″ 11 so I’m not overweight at all and I don’t really put on weight but what I’m doing can’t be good for my health, can it?

Now I’ve heard of green tea but never heard of red tea, if you think it’s a good alternative to snacking at the wrong timed then maybe I’ll give it a go.

Do you think that drinking red tea instead of eating late at night is more of a habit rather than a cure?

    • Hi Matthew and thank you for your comment, much appreciated.

Yes it is about habit changing, because when you drink the Red Tea you will no longer feel hungry and then the thoughts of wanting to eat will go.

This will reduce the amount of time you will find yourself in front of the fridge looking for something to eat.

      Thank you for reading

  7. Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for this post about healthy snacks to eat at night.  I’m one of the worst late night snackers.  I never dreamed you would suggest tea, I thought it would be the popcorn.  Green tea has been the thing in my house for the last few years.  It’s good to know about red tea also,

I like that it can be used for detox and losing weight.  I’m all for things that will help me be healthy.

    All the best,

Yes Red Tea is brilliant for detoxing and flushing out the toxins within the body and in turn flushing out the toxins in the fat cells which help them to shrink.

Now that is a really good.

And it is healthy for your body.

      Thank you for reading

  8. Nuts are my ultimate late night snack. Most teas I like have caffeine so I can’t drink them at night but I’d love to see if this is a good night time tea. Late night snacking is such a problem for some people when it comes to losing weight, it’s a big temptation (especially for me) finding a way to fight that craving will be a game changer in weight loss.

  9. Hello Jennifer, first off you should know that I love your website have it bookmarked and plan to use it as a reference in the future. You definately have a return customer in me.

Jada, you point out how water is a fine idea, momentarily. That is my experience as well. Atleast if I can curb my cravings for 5 minutes, its easier to say no to that crunchy bag of chips.

Thank you for giving the amazing tip of drinking Red Tea, loving this tip, really gonna try this asap. The tea making process can be part of the excitement for me since I love to cook and having something hot to sip will be soothing and calm those cravings for sure.

You mention snacking on seeds and nuts which in my experience has helped, mostly the walnuts because I need to crack them in order to get to the good stuff. That helps me to not dump a handful in all at once haha.

Love the Aloe Vera post. My mother raised me to be quite fond of it so it was a nice refresher course for me, thank you.

There are so many great things I could say here but I have rambled on a lot already. I do have a quick question though. I have some pregnancy weight to lose so want to try the Red Tea but am still breastfeeding. Do you know if the red tea is okay for a breastfeeding mom?

    • Hi Amelita

Firstly in answering your question.  When it comes to medical issues and the safety of your baby whilst breastfeeding I would suggest that you get confirmation from your medical advisers.

Because they will have all your medical records for you and your baby.

This is a naturally healthy product and I am sure that many women over the globe are using this tea whilst breastfeeding their babies without a second thought.  But in the total safety of my readers I would have to recommend that they seek advice from medical team.

I would also like to say that the act of breastfeeding will help with baby weight naturally.

After you have stopped breastfeeding you can drink this tea all day long.

Thank you for reading this article.
