This will depend on your hair type.  You could use it as a treatment before washing as a treatment and leave on for 15mins – 1 hour.  Or you can apply to your scalp every night, two to three times a week.  The choice is really yours. I tried different ways until I found one that fitted in with my lifestyle.  There is not right or wrong way.   It is just your way.

This is a nice and easy way to greatly increase your hair growth.

Fenugreek Seeds for damaged Hair

This is my favourite and I do this treatment the most because it is an all-rounder.  Not only is it good for helping with split ends and frizz but it also makes your hair appear and feel thinker and stronger with the very first treatment.  It is very good for weak and brittle hair.

How often should I do this treatment?

Once a week to start and then twice a month and then once a month.  After about three months you can have a break and then do as required.  I once a week for a month in a three month cycle.

How to prepare it

Two ways you can prepare and they both work the same.  It is more for convenience and how much time you have to which one you prefer to use.

First way

  • Mix fenugreek powder with coconut milk.
  • Apply to hair
  • Leave on for 30mins to 1 hour
  • Wash off with mild shampoo or conditioner
  • Deep condition
  • Style as usual

Second way

  • Soak the fenugreek seeds in coconut milk and leave for a few hours.
  • Stir mixture to make sure that all the seeds are soaking.
  • After a few hours strain mixture.
  • And follow the steps in the first way.

Fenugreek Seeds for Premature Grey hair

For best results use once a week until you see change and then as needed.  You can also increase treatment time to more than one hour.  I have left treatment on my hair for more than two hours at a time.

How to prepare it?

  • Soak fenugreek seeds and curry leaves in water (bottled water or distilled water) for best results.
  • Soak overnight
  • Strain water off or you can blend it up and use as paste
  • Apply to hair
  • Leave on for 30mins to 1 hour
  • Wash off with mild shampoo or conditioner
  • Deep condition
  • Style as usual

You can also use fenugreek powder in place of the seeds.

These are the many ways that you can use fenugreek seeds to condition and treat your hair issues or just to maintain,

I will say at this point that it is not the best smelling product but it works.  If you use a good conditioner and deep condition you should be fine.

Please let me know which treatment you try and what you thought of it. You can do this by leaving me a comment below.

  1. Where I’m from, the people use Methi a lot, for the health benefits mostly. But I have never used it on the hair. I didn’t even know that it could be used on hair. I should try this. Thanks a ton for this wonderful post. I have a learned a lot from it.

    • Hi and thank you for your comment, much appreciated.

Yes Fenugreek if a really lovely hair treatment which you get immediate results. Hair will feel thinker and stronger with the first treatment. The only downside is the smell that it may leave in your hair. For myself I love the benefits and find that if I use a good deep conditioner after it helps with the smell. I myself do not mind the smell.
